I've always been drawn to photographs and the history behind them. I would spend hours going through my family's photo albums, curious about people I'd never met, watching my parent's faces light up after recalling a memory that had faded, and reminiscing summers spent with my dad in Colorado feeling reconnected to it all. It's that connection that inspired me to take a film and darkroom class in 2006 where I became fascinated with the entire process- from taking the photo to developing the film and watching the result of all my hard work slowly appear into something physical, memories I could hold in my hands, that took me back to that feeling I had in that moment.
It wasn't until I got married and started a family that I realized how special and temporary these moments really are (not the posed and perfect moments, but the real ones), and my desire to document and hold onto them grew into a passion I wanted to share with others. I love people and sentimentalize everything in life so giving people a way to look back on their favorite memories and view them from a perspective they would never see otherwise is what fills my soul.
When you hire me you're hiring someone with over 15 years of photography experience, 4 years of education in digital and film photography, and over 8 years of professional wedding photography experience. All of my work seen here is from real weddings and real portrait sessions.
I also know how to read a room and I will never push you past your comfort zone. And even though I love to have a close relationship with clients I will still act and appear professional on your wedding day.
I personally photograph and hand edit all of your photos. It will be me that arrives on your wedding day, not an associate (unless there is an emergency), and I will never outsource my editing. To me, editing is just as much a part of the art as taking the photo. I edit each photo with intention and based off of the feeling of that moment and in my opinion that just can't be done by someone that wasn't actually there.
Honesty and integrity are a key part of who I am and how I run my business. I will always set expectations and answer any of your questions so you know exactly what you're investing into.
When I say I care about my clients I really mean it. This is more than just a job to me, I take your trust very seriously and do absolutely everything I can to make sure you not only get great photos but that you also have a great experience. I limit the amount of weddings and portrait sessions I take on each year so that I can give each client and wedding the time and attention they deserve.
Quality > quantity. Always.
While I do believe that any skilled photographer can create great work with any camera, when it comes to once-in-a-lifetime moments I will only use high-end professional camera equipment. For weddings I always photograph with 2 cameras so I never miss a moment in case of a malfunction, all of your images are always recorded to two separate SD cards in case one fails, and I backup all images to multiple sources to keep them safe until they have been delivered to you.
When it comes to 35mm film I only photograph manually with an SLR camera with professional quality film.
